Advancing Occupational Therapy Supports: Completing the Lifestyle Redesign® Intervention Delivery Course

At Hart and Haven LLC, I believe that growth is an ongoing, intentional process, for both the individuals I support and myself as an occupational therapist. I’m excited to share that I have recently completed the Lifestyle Redesign® Intervention Delivery Course, an advanced training that deepens my ability to support meaningful, sustainable change in daily life.

This milestone reflects a continued commitment to evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and client-centered occupational therapy.

What Is Lifestyle Redesign® in Occupational Therapy?

Lifestyle Redesign® is an occupational therapy approach developed at the University of Southern California that focuses on how daily habits, routines, and patterns of occupation impact overall health, well-being, and participation.

Rather than focusing on isolated skills, it emphasizes:

  • The whole person within their real-life context

  • The power of daily routines and habits

  • The relationship between occupation, identity, and health

  • Creating sustainable, meaningful lifestyle changes

This approach is grounded in research and has been shown to support improved physical and mental health outcomes across diverse populations. I am proud to be Lifestyle Redesign - Informed and plan to continue my training in this supportive style of occupational therapy.

Why Continuing Education Matters in Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is constantly evolving. Completing advanced training like the Lifestyle Redesign® Intervention Delivery Course allows me to:

  • Stay aligned with current evidence-based practices

  • Deepen clinical reasoning and therapeutic flexibility

  • Integrate holistic, participation-focused interventions

  • Provide care that reflects lived experience and individual values

Ongoing learning ensures that the support I provide is not only effective, but also relevant, respectful, and responsive.

How This Training Enhances My Practice at Hart and Haven LLC

This course has expanded how I support clients in creating meaningful, lasting change in their everyday lives. In practice, this looks like:

Supporting Sustainable Routines

Working collaboratively to build daily rhythms that feel supportive across self-care, work, rest, and play.

Strengthening Identity and Meaning

Exploring what matters most to each individual and aligning daily activities with personal values, interests, and goals.

Enhancing Executive Functioning in Real Life

Moving beyond isolated strategies to embed supports directly into routines and environments.

Integrating Sensory and Emotional Regulation

Supporting regulation as it naturally occurs throughout the day, rather than as a separate task.

Using a Coaching-Oriented Approach

Partnering with clients to problem-solve, reflect, and build autonomy in their own lives.
